Alex Abe, our business development specialist sat down with one of our wonderful truck drivers, Botirjon Aripov for this week/month’s driver spotlight. Botirjon Aripov had a lot of great things to say about ITF LLC Group – a family man, Botirjon Aripov has been driving for six years. He has a lot of great insight for new drivers joining the ITF team! Below is the transcript of the interview.
- Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?
My name is Botirjon Aripov. I am a truck driver working for ITF Group LLC. I am originally from Tashkent, Uzbekistan. I live in Daytona Beach, Florida with my family at the moment.
- Can you tell me about your family?
I have a rather small family since most of my relatives live abroad. I live with my wife and our two sons. My wife is a housewife and my sons both study at school.
- What are your hobbies?
I mostly spend my time on the road. You know what a truck driver’s life looks like: sometimes we drive for weeks or even months, so whenever I am home, I love spending quality time with my family. I try to know what is going on with my sons’ lives since I do not see them a lot in person due to my profession. We like to watch TV together and visit places.
My hobby is working in my small garden. I love planting flowers. I feel very calm and relaxed in the garden after stressful days. I may spend hours just taking care of them and watching them blossom.
- How long have you been driving a commercial truck?
I received my Commercial Driver’s License about 6 years ago. Since then I am behind the wheel, helping move freight.
- How long have you been driving for ITF?
I started my career at ITF and driving for them for almost 6 years now. Never changed jobs, this is my company. I learned a lot here and I feel like am sharpening my driving skills at ITF as it is growing.
- What’s your favorite thing about being an ITF driver?
I like ITF because the management is honest. I know I can trust them with my financials and I rely on them with other personal issues. I get my paychecks on time as well as my loads. There might be some delays at times, but they always notify us.
Another great thing about this company is that they are open for change and accept criticism and feedback positively. I think that is the reason for their ongoing success.
- What is the best thing about being a truck driver?
I am going to be honest with you, it is mostly about income. This job is hard and requires great sacrifice of the time you can spend with your loved ones. However, the money is worth it and I have been providing for my family solely from this job. It is funny, but another factor that I like about this profession is if you know what you are doing, you will not be bothered a lot with phone calls.
- What inspires you to work more?
Of course, it is my family! I have to feed them. My son is about to get married soon so I am trying to help him with the wedding expenses. I am very excited about it!
- Favorite places to drive?
I do not drive in the west coast a lot, however, I would say Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Roads are smooth, straight and quiet! I think every driver enjoys when they go through these places. The nature is also very breathtaking there.
- What is your advice for new drivers in your profession?
I would put safety, first. Always respect the traffic laws, I mean any law. Our lives are more important than anything else. So, my advice would be: never overestimate your powers or knowledge. You never know what is going to happen tomorrow. Never speed up, your family is waiting for you at home. They need you!
Moreover, I have been driving for 6 years and I must say I am still learning. I am learning new skills every day. Be open for new challenges and ideas, this is what makes us great as human beings.
